49ers coach Mike Singletary and Raye have not seen eye-to-eye about the reasons for the team’s struggling offense.
The 49ers, 0-3, entered the season amidst heavy playoff expectations and passed on several quarterbacks to stay with starter Alex Smith, who has been inconsistent during the team’s three losses.
Well, as well all know, you can’t fire the players. With high expectations for the 49ers in a weak NFC West, Singletary knows that his job is on the line if he doesn’t deliver a trip to the playoffs.
Unless the new OC — QB Coach Mike Johnson — can help the offensive line keep Alex Smith upright and snap Michael Crabtree out of his funk, it won’t matter who is up in the booth calling the plays. Not to mention that the offense can’t do much about the defense giving up 30 points.
